One of the many
missions at Warm & Tote is to introduce to our
community, our family, things that help empower your
lives and make life better, richer or easier in some
way. This is another one of those services. We
know how well it works because we have used it.
We feel that every family can benefit from it, mainly
because of its affordability.
We all hope that
accidents and illness never visit us, but the fact
is...they do. Many of us are un-insured for
doctor, hospital or health issues. Others have
Major Medical Insurance that pays the doctors or
hospitals. That's great. But who pays
you if you get sick or have an accident?
If you get hurt at
work, then worker's comp will only pay you a
percentage of your income. Can you afford a
shortage in your paycheck until you get well?
Even worse, what if the accident happens off the
job? Now the doctors get paid and you may have
to cash-in all banked sick and personal days or
available savings, and these options may
quickly be exhausted. Or if you're lucky enough to
have it, rely on short and long-term disability.
But this too will only pay out a percentage of your
income. Again, can you afford a shortage
in your paycheck until you get well?
Statistics show that most of us can't.
Paycheck shortages can cause unwelcome financial and
emotional strain when you are trying to recover.
Consider yourself
lucky if you have Major
Medical coverage at work.
Many are not so fortunate. The doctors and
the hospitals will get paid. That's great!
But it's not until you ask yourself, "who is going
to pay me while I'm getting well?" that you realize
that there's still a problem. How will you
manage the ongoing expenses that need to be
paid?-- Things like groceries,
your electric bill, child care, your car note and
mortgage. Things you used to take for granted
because you never thought you would get sick or
injured. It's like thinking about your Will.
We hate to think about it, but for
the family's sake this could well be a decision that
makes a huge difference.
If you had to take
off from work to care for a spouse or child...would it help if you received cash or
"additional cash" in that event? Worker's
Compensation will not help in this case. Major Medical
would cover most of the doctor's and the
hospital bills, which is good, but there is a
financial gap. There is a great health
insurance plan out there that will help you in times
like this...and will quickly help fill the gap to
help pay the things that
must be paid?
It will pay you
cash directly by check payable to you, unless you
specify otherwise. Even if you are fortunate
enough to have Major Medical at work, you still get
paid regardless, to help you keep things
running. Plus, depending on the plan(s)
chosen, they'll help pay for incidental travel,
specialists, and in some cases lump sums, depending
on the medical circumstance and which policy you
have purchased.
That's where
supplemental health insurance comes in. The
best company in this category is Aflac.
You've heard about them or have seen their funny
commercials, and now you know a little
bit more about what they do. By the way, it can be even more
affordable if your place of work allows enrollment to 3 or
more employees. It can possibly be
offered at work on a pre-tax basis which can possibly
provide a tax benefit to you as an employee as well
as to your employer. If you ever change jobs,
you can take it with you at the same rate. You
actually own your policy. Aflac gets our vote!
We urge you to consider this valuable service for your family.
